Keto4can is a 501-c3 public charity that provides nutrition to improve quality of life and survival of people with terminal cancer who have lost access to care after they have stopped responding to treatment.
It is common for cpeople coming out of cancer treatment to experience a lot of pain, and difficulty with basic daily tasks due to nerve damage from the chemotherapy.
The nutrition program is designed to reduce pain , and increase healing of the nervous system by reducing inflammation and stimulating neurogenesis . All daily nutritional needs including meals beverages and snacks will be delivered daily . Meals will be organic gluten free , low in carbohydrates and oxalic acid and mildly seasoned, to accommodate digestive sensitivities associated with cancer treatment.
The ketogenic diet helps the body use ketones for energy instead of sugars . By reducing carbohydrates , fats are converted into ketones, which produces much fewer free radicals than carbohydrates,when converted into energy by the cells ,reducing cell damage [which causes inflammation and pain].Cancer cells high metabolic rate require energy conversion faster than can be supplied by ketones.ketosis protects healthy cells while hindering cancer cells.
